NSCR Registry

Any member of the NSCR is welcome to seek registration for a Serama he owns. The member must be in good standing with the NSCR and the Serama presented for registration must be banded** (or intended to be banded) with an official NSCR seamless numbered leg band.

The objective of the Registry is to provide an independent, authoritative, evaluation and publication of the quality of a particular Serama with respect to the adopted Standard of the NSCR.

1. The first element of implementation is the member.
The member will submit his/her Serama for evaluation by judges appointed by the NSCR who will score the Serama based upon the Serama Standard adopted by the NSCR.
Any member whose Serama is awarded a score of 80 points and above in a live evaluation and/or 60 points and above in a virtual evaluation may register that Serama in the NSCR registry.

2. The second element of implementation is the judge.
The judge is responsible for evaluating the member's Seramas submitted, either live, at poultry shows, or in virtual evaluations. If the Serama scores the above eligible amount of points, the judge will inform the member and the registrar the result. The registrar is also given the corresponding NSCR band number of the qualifying Serama for entry into the Registry. [In the event a member's Serama is found by the judge to be ineligible by points awarded under the minimum qualifying points, the judge will PRIVATELY notify the member of the result. In this case the registrar is not notified.]

3. The third element of implementation is the Registrar.
The Registrar will receive from the judge, the band number of the Serama to be submitted to the registry. The band number is recorded by the registrar who also maintains a registry of band number member assignments, and forwards the information on to the Webmaster [site administrator] in a report.

4. The fourth element of implementation is the Webmaster [site administrator].
The Webmaster, upon receipt of the registrar's report, publishes the registry information on the NSCR website.

***Bands can be purchased through the NSCR by individual members/breeders. The Standard used to evaluate birds would be the SCNA standard, which was recently adopted by the NSCR.

How to order bands

Seamless, durable Aluminum Leg Bands can be ordered through the NSCR, in a minimum quantity of 10 bands. Bands are pre ordered from the manufacturer by the NSCR to expedite shipping to you. They are constructed out of Aluminum, have the initials "NSCR", on them, as well as the year and a 3 or 4 digit number. Numbers are consecutive based on when you order. (The number is what is used to register your birds.)
The bands change color based on the year. Blue is the color for 2005.
It is a good idea to order early, to insure availability. Chicks can be banded from 10-14 weeks, approximately.
